For me, travelling is about seeing beyond the veneer of a place. It’s about reading beyond the first page of a city’s metaphorical book. It’s about understanding the little things that add up to create a burning passion in the hearts of the locals. Of course, some tourist attractions are necessary, but they’re often not the first things on my list of sights to see when I arrive in a new destination. I like to get lost in the streets of a new place with no plan other than to see what I come across. I like to experience local life wherever I go.

One great joy that travel has brought me in particular is the ability to look at already familiar places from a different perspective. Having left my hometown of Rio eight years ago, each time I go back for a visit I find a new reason to fall in love with my city all over again! One of the most important lessons that travel has taught me is that there is beauty in the simplest of things. You don’t have to go far to travel, you just need to be open to the opportunities that it can present you with.
